Position Summary
Assistant Teachers play a key role in supporting the success of the classroom by partnering with the Lead Teacher to implement curriculum, maintain daily routines, and provide a warm, engaging environment for children. They model respectful communication, contribute to documentation, and ensure a consistent experience for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Support & Culture

  • Maintain a calm, respectful presence in the classroom.

  • Reinforce routines and expectations as set by the Lead Teacher.

  • Help guide children through transitions, play, meals, and rest.

Curriculum & Learning Engagement

  • Facilitate center-based and small group activities under Lead direction.

  • Observe and engage children in developmentally appropriate play and learning.

  • Adapt to changing needs while keeping children safe and engaged.

Child Supervision & Safety

  • Maintain active supervision and awareness of children at all times.

  • Respond to behavior, accidents, or emotional needs with care and consistency.

  • Follow health, safety, and licensing guidelines at all times.

Documentation & Communication

  • Log child observations and milestones in Brightwheel.

  • Support family communication by reinforcing messages from the Lead.

  • Share daily highlights and build warm, trusting relationships with families.

Team Collaboration

  • Check in regularly with the Lead to align on roles and responsibilities.

  • Provide honest input, support team goals, and ask for help when needed.

  • Be open to feedback and participate in professional development.

Job requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Montana Practitioner Registry Level 2 (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

  • Experience working with young children in a group setting

  • Familiarity with developmentally appropriate practices
